What is King's Furniture

King's Furniture is a charity reuse scheme which began when one person in the church matched up someone in the community who needed some home furnishings with someone else who had some unwanted items. A lot has happened since that first informal act of kindness 20 years ago.

The scheme has always been aimed towards those on income based benefits, but all are welcome to come and take a look. We have everything from bedroom, living room and dining room furniture. We also have white goods, small electrical items, clothes and some rare bric a brac treats in our room of paraphernalia.

Although a bigger scale now than when it started, we are still doing the same thing – demonstrating God’s love and concern in a very practical way to people in need in our community. Any profits go back into other ministries within the church, including our Foodbank and Community Cafe.

After all, King’s Furniture is not just about furniture, it’s about people!

Donate

We rely on donations, which we greatly appreciate. We will consider most types of living room, bedroom, dining room and office furniture, as well as kitchen appliances and other household items such as bedding and bikes.

However we need to make sure the donations that we are passing on to others are of certain standard, because of this we do have a few boxes to tick first.

The following items DO require a fire safety label:

  • Sofas

  • Beds and mattresses (mattresses should be clean and stain-free)

  • Cushions

  • Loose covers and stretch covers

The following items DO NOT require a fire label:

  • Duvets and bedding

  • Curtains

We are unable to take:

  • Damaged furniture, this can include furniture with pet related damage, stained, and from a smoking home

  • Black glass TV units

  • Prams, pushchairs and car seats

  • Any furniture that has been left outside

Volunteer at King's

Volunteers are priceless, we could not deliver this vital service without them. We always need help delivering and collecting furniture, sales and warehouse duties. If you would like to become part of this great team, please contact our office, or fill in the online form and we will get in touch.
